Geloof ons, dit is een fabel. Om af te vallen maakt het in principe niet zo veel uit wat je eet, als je energiebalans maar \u2013 licht \u2013 negatief is. In deze blog vertelt R\u00e9mon Koetje, Lifestyle coach en trainer bij Happy Bodies in Alkmaar, hoe het zit.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Oud, ziek en dik door koolhydraten<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Klop \u2018koolhydraatarm\u2019 in in Google en je krijgt bijna drie miljoen resultaten. Je kunt dus op zijn minst zeggen dat het de gemoederen bezighoudt. Je wordt er sneller oud van, het veroorzaakt diabetes en als je af wilt vallen, zijn koolhydraten al helemaal uit den boze. De waarheid ligt iets genuanceerder. Dat je van koolhydraten sneller oud wordt is nooit bewezen. Van koolhydraten krijg je ook geen diabetes. Over de oorzaken van diabetes type 1 is weinig bekend, maar het ontstaan heeft waarschijnlijk te maken met aanleg. De oorzaken van diabetes 2 kunnen worden gezocht in de hoek van overgewicht, roken, ongezonde voeding en te weinig lichaamsbeweging. Op de speciale pagina\u2019s over\u00a0diabetes type 1\u00a0en\u00a0diabetes type 2\u00a0van het Diabetes Fonds komt het woord \u2018koolhydraten\u2019 niet eens voor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Kwaliteit belangrijker dan hoeveelheid<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">De Gezondheidsraad, het onafhankelijk wetenschappelijk adviesorgaan voor regering en parlement, adviseert om minimaal 20 procent van onze energie uit vet te halen, minimaal tien procent uit eiwit en 40 tot 70 procent uit koolhydraten. Daar wordt uiteraard wel een kanttekening bij geplaatst: het is aan te raden voedingsmiddelen te eten waarvan is aangetoond dat voedzame ingredi\u00ebnten bevatten. Het zal niemand verbazen dat voedingsmiddelen als volkoren graanproducten, peulvruchten, groente en fruit beter voor de gezondheid zijn dan producten als suiker, chips, witte rijst, koek en snoep. Dat is ook precies het advies van het Diabetes Fonds: de kwaliteit van koolhydraten is belangrijker dan de hoeveelheid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Gezond afvallen gaat over de juiste balans<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Ook als je af wil vallen gaat alles om balans. Koolhydraten zijn prima, maar eet \u2018goede\u2019 koolhydraten en zorg dat je net iets minder calorie\u00ebn binnenkrijgt dan je verbruikt. Kracht- en duursporters hebben wat meer eiwit nodig dan niet-sporters, maar volgens\u00a0het Voedingscentrum\u00a0krijg je voldoende eiwit binnen als je gezond en gevarieerd eet.
