Cardio heeft heel veel voordelen, en het zal je zeker helpen calorie\u00ebn te verbranden, maar wie af wil vallen moet meer doen dan alleen cardio. In deze blog leggen we uit waarom.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Hart en longen trainen<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Het woord \u201ccardio\u201d komt van het Griekse woord \u201ckardia\u201d, wat \u201chart\u201d betekent. Cardio-oefeningen zijn dus oefeningen die je hart en longen trainen om effici\u00ebnter te werken. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld lopen, fietsen of zwemmen zijn. Het helpt je om calorie\u00ebn te verbranden, het hart- en longsysteem te versterken en het risico op bepaalde gezondheidsproblemen te verminderen, zoals hartaandoeningen en diabetes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Het gaat om de negatieve energiebalans<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Als je wilt afvallen, gaat het niet alleen om het aantal calorie\u00ebn dat je verbrandt tijdens de training. Het gaat erom hoeveel calorie\u00ebn je totaal verbrandt op een dag, en hoeveel je binnenkrijgt. Als je meer calorie\u00ebn verbrandt dan je binnenkrijgt, zul je afvallen: een zogenaamde negatieve energiebalans. Als je cardio doet, verbrand je calorie\u00ebn, dat is een ding dat zeker is. Maar wie denkt af te kunnen vallen door alleen cardio-oefeningen te doen, komt hoogstwaarschijnlijk bedrogen uit. Een fikse wandeling of een lange fietstocht zorgt er ook voor dat je meer honger krijgt. En het aantal calorie\u00ebn dat je verbrandt door cardiotraining wordt gemakkelijk overschat. Iemand van zestig kilo verbrandt met een half uur hardlopen ongeveer 400 kilocalorie\u00ebn, maar \u00e9\u00e9n Chai Tea Latte van Starbucks bevat al snel 255 kilocalorie\u00ebn. Tel daar een brownie bij op \u2013 want je hebt zo goed je best gedaan \u2013 dan zit je in totaal al op de 630 kilocalorie\u00ebn. Als je dus niet ook je voedingspatroon aanpast, is de kans klein dat je zult afvallen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Profiteer van de afterburn van krachttraining<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Als je je cardio-oefeningen en een passend voedingsschema bovendien combineert met krachttraining, dan is de kans op succes het grootst. Om spieren in stand te houden, is energie nodig. Hoe meer spieren, hoe meer energie er moet worden verbrand en hoe hoger je stofwisseling. Dat gebeurt niet alleen tijdens de training, maar ook erna. Dit afterburn-effect zorgt ervoor dat je lichaam tot enkele uren nadat het tot rust is gekomen meer calorie\u00ebn consumeert. Een kilo spier verbrandt zo\u2019n 12 kilocalorie\u00ebn, vetmassa slechts 4. Elke kilo spier die je lichaam erbij krijgt, levert je zeventig tot honderd kilocalorie\u00ebn op per dag.
